The City Council inaugurates the 'Traveling campaign on the effects of Climate Change in the Canary Islands' at the IES Támara

The exhibition has 42 explanatory panels that show the direct and indirect effects of climate change on the ecosystems of the Canary Islands.

The Mayor, Concepción Narvaez, has inaugurated the exhibition, promoted by the Department of Ecological Transition, Fight against Climate Change and Territorial Planning of the Government of the Canary Islands, which aims to promote knowledge about the general causes of this phenomenon on the planet. The campaign will be carried out throughout the week in the morning from 9 a.m. to 13 p.m. and from 16 p.m. to 18 p.m. at the IES Támara in San Fernando de Maspalomas.

 

Throughout this week, numerous schools from the municipality and neighbors interested in the causes and possible solutions to climate change in the Canary archipelago will attend. The exhibition has a group of environmental monitors, in charge of interpreting the more than 40 information panels that the campaign has on the effects of climate change. “This exhibition not only remains mere information, but also provokes greater involvement in environmental issues in all those who visit it. We have just inaugurated this exhibition as part of the council's transversal program that is committed to education for sustainability,” recalls Mayor Narváez.

 

In addition to the tour with the information panels, you can attend the different talks organized throughout the week that, in a pedagogical way, indicate possible solutions to mitigate the effects of climate change on the Islands, which involve changes in the productive sectors. , economic, as well as the daily habits of citizens, in matters of mobility, responsible consumption.

 

Mayor Narváez highlights what it means to resume “this type of informative initiatives with the aim of developing, collecting and distributing information along with raising awareness for those who wish to work in a more sustainable, efficient society and become an active park in mitigating climate change in all the points of the Canary Islands”.
