SANTIAGO el CHICO FESTIVAL PROGRAM
The City Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana informs of the necessary change of location and route in the development of the Mass in El Pinar and the Bajada de Santiago El Chico scheduled within the Festivities in honor of Santiago de Tunte, which will take place tomorrow, Saturday, 13 of July. After the activation, by the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, of the Island Emergency Plan (PEIN) with which the alert for forest fires on the Island is declared and given the forecasts that point to the possibility of temperatures reaching 40 degrees In the Medians and Summits of the Island, traffic on rural trails is prohibited.
For this reason, the traditional Mass in El Pinar and the subsequent Bajada de Santiago El Chico is forced to change its route. Thus, the Mass will be held in the Church of Tunte and later the image will travel through the main streets of the town accompanied by the procession planned in the original route. The exit will be from Juglar Fabián Torrez Street, and will pass through Manuel Zenón Araña Yánez, El Roque, San Juan, Corazón de Jesús, Padre Claret, Tamarán, Santiago Cazorla, Pérez Galdós, Calvario, El Carmen, Pancho Guerra, Antonio Yanéz , until you reach the Plaza de Santiago.
The planned events are reorganized as follows:
18:30h.- Mass in the church of Tunte, with a performance by Los Herreños
19:40 p.m.- Departure from the Church of Tunte to Las Lagunas by bus
20:00h.- Tour of the town with the image of Santiago El Chico and Los Herreños
21:30 p.m.- Tenderetunte and Grand Taifa Dance
