The Maspalomas Agricultural Market will be held starting next Sunday, July 21, in the patio of the covered court of the Colegio Marcial Franco, located next to the Maspalomas Municipal Stadium.

The transfer from the parking lot of the Day Stay Center to the school "is done to offer stallholders and users much more favorable environmental and working conditions," according to the eighth deputy mayor and head of the Department of Commerce, Agriculture and Markets, Araceli Armas Cruz.

To adopt this transfer, which has the relevant permits from the school and the Ministry of Education, the negative opinion of the producers and users regarding the development of this outdoor service in the previous location has been assessed.

The change seeks to ensure that the Market activity can be carried out in optimal climatic conditions, as it will take place in a limited area that avoids wind disturbances and under the shade of the school patio roof. “The choice of this new space is temporary and provisional, and has been accepted and highly valued by the farmers themselves because in addition to the shade shelter, it is aesthetically much more comfortable and attractive for them and for visitors,” says Araceli. The Agricultural Market of San Fernando de Maspalomas was inaugurated on May 3, 2009 with the objective of promoting the primary sector of the municipality and the viability of small agricultural farms on the Island through the direct sale of their products. It currently has 22 sales positions, of which 9 are from the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana. In it, farmers and ranchers from all over the Island have the opportunity to directly sell their fresh, quality products at competitive prices.

Over the years it has established itself as a direct meeting point between producers and consumers, where you can buy local products such as flowers, plants, cheeses, honey, breads, pastries, jams, eggs, olives, olive oils, seasonal vegetables and fruits, among others, becoming at the same time another tourist attraction for visitors to the island.

Currently the San Fernando Agricultural Market is held every fifteen days, and always on Sunday, from 8:00 a.m. to 13:30 p.m.
