Mogán companies must have their logistics adapted even if they are already doing so originally. The Mogán City Council will offer the population and tourism businesses the separate collection of the five main fractions of waste, rest, organic, paper and cardboard, light packaging and glass, and this in compliance with Law 7/2022, of 8 April, of waste and contaminated soils for a circular economy. The organic fraction containers are expected to be installed at the end of 2024. The Prezero facilities in San Bartolomé de Tirajana in the Gran Canaria Sur Ecopark will be the first to gain in agility and speed and the Government of the Canary Islands in waste collection.
In 2021, equipment was already supplied in this important location with the Palvi brand through the manufacturing and commissioning of an innovative and technologically advanced automatic and single-operator bilateral collection system Dule System, fully developed at its facilities in Agramunt (Lleida). . These equipment were acquired by the concessionaire that was awarded in the corresponding bidding process for the public waste collection and transportation service, the UTE Mogán, established for this project by the companies Cointer and Proyecto Azatia.
The Mogán City Council hopes to start improving the selective collection of biowaste in the municipality in 2025 with the installation of new containers for the organic fraction, known as the brown container, an action that will be financed with a subsidy of almost 2,84 million euros. granted by the Department of Ecological Transition and Energy of the Government of the Canary Islands to support the implementation of waste regulations within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
To qualify for the aforementioned subsidy, the Mogán City Council presented the project 'For a sustainable and resilient Mogán' whose purpose is the implementation of the collection of the organic fraction for the homes of the municipality and to improve the existing one for large producers of this type of waste, which is specifically food and vegetable waste. The City Council will offer the population separate collection of the five main waste fractions: rest, organic, paper and cardboard, light packaging and glass.
The subsidy finances 90% of the total cost of the project, which amounts to 3,3 million euros, and will first consist of carrying out a study that determines the number of containers needed and the points where they should be placed. Subsequently, the acquisition and installation of these identifying containers will be carried out due to their brown color, the statement indicates.
