How Feluco became a historian of southern Gran Canaria

Dácil Santana Thursday, July 18, 2024

Rafael González (Feluco) has died. He was a brave historian and public intellectual of the south of Gran Canaria, and whose successful stories about the achievements of Tirajan were complemented by his work as a commentator on Radio Dunas or Maspalomas24H as well as always available to narrate the history of the south of Gran Canaria. González died in a supermarket this Wednesday at noon from Radio Dunas, where he had been in a conversation about curious things, which was what he liked, about the south of Gran Canaria. He was 61 years old. The south of Gran Canaria is dismayed.

The topics that Rafael González, Feluco, addressed were enormous: the construction of social infrastructures and the history of Tunte. He wrote about epic characters from the south of Gran Canaria. Feluco did not seem to be intimidated by his topics, which were fun for him and turned into fascinating topics for the readers of Maspalomas24H. For many people, the figures, the main characters or protagonists of the south of Gran Canaria of our current years are perceived almost as characters in a parade of history. But they were nothing like that. They were very human beings. And each of them had their flaws, their flaws and their mistakes. Always, with great respect, Feluco treated his people.
