It was a very emotional and festive day that the municipality of Mogán experienced this Sunday, July 21, with one of the most anticipated events of the Carmen Festival, the maritime procession. Arguineguín's image of the patron saint of sailors left for Playa de Mogán to greet her namesake, accompanied by 18 fishing boats and about 150 pleasure boats.

At 9:00 a.m. the day began with the Eucharist in the Church of Nuestra Señora del Carmen and then a delegation led by the mayor of Mogán, Onalia Bueno, and councilors from the local government, accompanied the image to the rhythm of the band La Pasión de La Aldea to the Arguineguín Pier.
Bucio sounds, cheers, applause and even firecrackers announced the passage of the Virgen del Carmen through the streets of the fishing neighborhood and her arrival at the port facility, where hundreds of residents were already waiting on the boats. Before beginning the maritime procession, the sailors carried their patron saint on their shoulders to another small image of the Virgin of Carmen that is also in the port.
Finally, they embarked the Virgin on the fishing vessel 'La Pardela II' which, as is customary, has been chosen by lottery. The mayor of Mogán, the Councilor for the Presidency, Tania Alonso, the parish priest Félix Martín Aguiar, and members of the band also attended.
The procession had its first stop in the neighboring neighborhood of Santa Águeda to visit its virgin, who was already waiting on the shore of Pajar Bay, and make a floral delivery. It then continued through El Perchel, Patalavaca, Anfi, Puerto Rico, Amadores, Los Frailes, Medio Almud, Tiritaña, and Tauro, until the last stop at the Puerto de Playa de Mogán.
There, along with the Fishermen's Brotherhood, a multitude of residents of the seaside town waited with their Virgin of Carmen, revealing the great fervor of those present who, grateful and excited, watched the meeting and popular greeting between both images, a symbol of seafaring twinning. .
Next, the two carvings went in procession to the Doctor Pedro Betancor León square, where the band dedicated several lively songs to them that made the attendees dance. Back at the Fishing Pier, the two images said goodbye and the Virgin of Carmen de Arguineguín returned again to her town, where the festivities did not stop until late in the afternoon with music and varied cuisine.
