The IEA Turismo Innova Gran Canaria has allowed SMEs in the south of Gran Canaria to access part of the 1,8 million euros, corresponding to the Last Mile 2 subsidy and intended for the implementation of digitalization projects in the tourism sector. The president of Turismo Innova Gran Canaria, Santiago de Armas, highlighted this Wednesday in Las Palmas that of all the Spanish companies awarded, 5% are from the Canary Islands; and of the Canarian SMEs beneficiaries of this subsidy, 41% belong to their interest group, "which shows the great effort that has been made by the business group and the Chamber, which have managed to channel this line of aid for so many SMEs in a very short time."
This European aid line aims to boost the competitiveness of companies in the tourism sector and improve digitalization and intelligence applied to management, promotion, sustainability, enhancement and dissemination for destinations and the tourism sector. The project prioritizes the implementation of an advanced intelligence system to optimize the relationship with the client. This system includes the creation of the 'Digital Twins' product of services available on the web, mobile applications and virtual reality. In addition, virtual reality points will be integrated into physical stores to generate value and collect behavioral metrics. It will also have a virtual assistant based on artificial intelligence to support customer service agents.
For his part, the president of the Chamber, Luis Padrón, stated that this achievement is the result of the success of the public-private collaboration promoted by the Chamber, an institution that supports structures such as the cluster, to benefit the interests of companies in around tourism innovation.
