The Madrid subsidiary of the French group Qair has asked the central government to carry out an investment in the south of Gran Canaria with a capacity of 236 megawatts of offshore wind power. The first phase of the geophysical prospecting work on the seabed of the site would be carried out with a prospecting vessel with state-of-the-art technology. The data collected will be incorporated into land modeling studies while metocean studies are carried out. All this will depend on the deadlines of the central and Canarian Executives.
Qair, with more than 30 years of existence, defines itself on its website as "an independent European renewable energy company with a global presence and a track record as a pioneer in the industry." The company also develops, finances, builds and operates green hydrogen, marine renewable energy, terrestrial renewable energy and energy management projects.
The wind farm would be called Tamaragua, which must always include Guanche names to generate social empathy. The French group has plenty of experience with the European public sector. In Scotland, a Qair consortium with Deme and Aspiravi, Thistle Wind Partners (TWP) was awarded 2023 gigawatts of offshore projects in Scotland in 2 with two wind farms: Ayre Offshore, a 1 GW floating foundation project located east of the islands Orkney and Bowdun Offshore, a 1 GW fixed foundation project off the coast of Aberdeen.
