The deceased, an English tourist, was causing disturbances in a leisure venue
An employee, in order to immobilize him, used the “mataleón” technique, causing the tourist's death.
The National Police of San Bartolomé de Tirajana has arrested a 32-year-old man, with no police record, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of homicide.
In the early hours of Wednesday, July 24, a notification was received by telephone number 091 from the National Police, alerting that a person was lying on the ground without signs of life in the vicinity of a leisure venue in Playa del Inglés.
Several units of the National Police, Citizen Assistance Group, Judicial Police and Scientific Police and emergency services attended the scene. Once there, they confirmed the presence of a man lying on the ground with no vital signs, so the area was cordoned off.
Police investigators began to gather information from witnesses, store employees, friends and the deceased's wife. The first police investigations pointed to a heart attack since, according to his acquaintances, he had consumed narcotic substances that night. However, marks were observed on the neck, so the body was transferred to the Forensic Anatomical Institute for analysis.
Thanks to several witnesses
Several witnesses told the agents that they had observed how one of the store's employees performed the "mataleón" technique on the later deceased since he was very upset. At one point during the restraint, the man collapsed to the ground.
Given these statements, the security cameras were analyzed, observing how, in fact, an employee of the premises grabbed the victim's neck and he collapsed to the floor. In addition, the forensic report confirmed that the cause of death was asphyxiation.
Therefore, given the risk of the alleged perpetrator fleeing, a search device was activated. Once located, his immediate arrest was carried out.
As soon as he was placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority, they ordered his immediate imprisonment.
