The Gran Canaria Summer South Craft Fair, which opened its doors to the public last Friday, August 9, faces the last days of its seventeenth edition with more than sixty stands where you can find all types of products made by hand on the island, a musical performance by Araguaney and the latest live craft samples of this edition.
Since last Friday, August 9, the day of its inauguration, the surroundings of the Maspalomas Lighthouse have hosted this summer meeting of tourists and locals with the artisans of the island. Visitors who have already visited the 64 stands, which make up the fair in this edition, have been able to purchase unique products made by hand in Gran Canaria. The original pieces that you can find at this fair range from silver jewelry and different recycled materials, candles, ceramic tableware, cups, fans and mosaics; to all types of decorative objects such as curious figures made of wood or iron, replicas of pre-Hispanic pottery pieces, miniatures, toys made of fabric and recycling, and clothing items woven and decorated with various techniques.
For his part, the cutler Manuel González Perera will show today how his hands work to create from scratch unique pieces recognized throughout the world for the complexity of their details, which is why he will be the protagonist this Wednesday in the Live Crafts of this edition. It will be followed by daily exhibitions by José Manuel Rodríguez Díaz (leather goods), Josefa Peña Galván (embroidery), María Eloísa Peña Galván (rye basketry) and Nicolasa Alemán Sosa (openwork).
Likewise, the last days of the Gran Canaria Summer South Craft Fair come with the performance of Araguaney, a popular music group that will accompany the visitors tomorrow afternoon, Thursday, August 15, starting at 18:30 p.m. come to discover the island's crafts and their craftsmen, and with it their products, culture and traditions.
