The Gran Canaria Housing Consortium has issued a formal request for collaboration addressed to the Housing Department of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana town council as well as to all the town councils on the Island so that, from the local administration, the applications can be collected and processed. of the residents of the municipality who, being in a vulnerable situation, need to rehabilitate their homes. Thus, the Councilor for Housing, Lucía Jiménez (CC) indicates that as of Wednesday, August 14, “the Department of Housing will be available to process requests for aid from neighbors who need to carry out actions that have the purpose of improving the accessibility and removal of physical or communication barriers in the homes of people who are in a situation of socioeconomic vulnerability.”
The Housing Consortium highlights, in the request made to local administrations, the importance of working with city councils to implement policies and projects that positively impact the quality of life of citizens and emphasizes that collaboration will allow the maximization of available resources and ensure a coordinated approach in the execution of initiatives.
The subsidies are aimed at individuals or cohabitation units who meet the following requirements: possess Spanish nationality or legal residence in Spain, be owners or tenants of the property, and reside there for at least six months before the call. In addition, they must be in a situation of economic vulnerability, determined by annual income not exceeding three times the IPREM, with exceptions for large families and people with disabilities. It is also established that no person in the cohabitation unit has been a beneficiary in the last call or is the owner of another home, except in certain specific circumstances. The grant is primarily intended to improve accessibility and remove architectural barriers, especially for those over 70 years of age or people with disabilities.
The deadline for submitting applications is 20 business days, after the Housing Consortium publishes the call in the BOP, so interested parties would have until September 13, the date on which the deadline would end. . After receiving the applications that interested parties must present to the Department of Housing located on the 4th Floor of the Yumbo Shopping Center, the processing and referral will be made to the Housing Consortium of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, and it will be this administration that will study the applications. and publish the list of those pre-admitted to the requested aid, who must subsequently provide the documentation that this Administration requests.
The first deputy mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Alejandro Marichal, highlights the willingness of the Housing Department to collaborate with other Administrations that, “as in the case of our municipality, are committed to the improvement and rehabilitation of existing homes. In the SBT Housing Plan 2024-2027 defined at the beginning of the legislature, we established, among other objectives, to carry out the rehabilitation and improvement of the existing public housing stock. For this reason, this City Council, through the Department of Housing, joins the collaboration proposal promoted by the Housing Consortium in order to process the applications of those residents of the municipality who want to apply for help to improve accessibility to their homes. ”.
