The AEMET contemplates episodes with gusts of wind, high temperatures, haze and storms that will affect much of the week
The Government of the Canary Islands, through the General Directorate of Emergencies, has warned about a possible unstable meteorological situation in the archipelago. Based on information from the AEMET and other sources, an episode of wind, high temperatures, haze and possible unusual storms from Africa are expected over the next few days.
The State Meteorological Agency has issued its forecast, highlighting a significant increase in temperatures in the southern and southeastern areas of Gran Canaria. Thermal values above 34°C in areas such as Maspalomas, Mogán and Vecindario, anticipating a hot week in much of the island.
The trade winds will continue to dominate the meteorological situation in the archipelago, with moderate intensity, reaching gusts of up to 50 km/h in exposed areas, especially on the northern and eastern slopes of the islands. In the interior of Gran Canaria and in the protected areas of the south and southeast, the winds will be lighter, contributing to a warm and stable environment.
In the south and southeast of Gran Canaria, this region will experience the highest temperatures in the Canary Islands during the week. Thermometers may register values of 34°C in Maspalomas and Mogán, while in the southeast, towns such as Vecindario and Agüimes will reach temperatures above 33°C. These temperatures are expected to increase slightly in the coming days. In the rest of the Canary Islands, in the north and midlands of the islands, temperatures will be more moderate, ranging between 25 and 30°C during the day, with cooler nights thanks to the influence of the trade winds.

For the next few days, the heat in the south and southeast of Gran Canaria is expected to continue increasing, with temperatures that could reach up to 36°C, especially on Wednesday. The sea will remain calm, with moderate waves on the northern coasts.
In addition, PEFMA has issued alerts for this week due to the high risk of forest fires, especially in the midlands and peaks of Gran Canaria, due to high temperatures and low humidity. The population is recommended to take extreme precautions and follow the instructions of the authorities.
The state of the sea is mostly calm on the southern and southeastern coasts of Gran Canaria, with waves that will not exceed one meter in height. On the coasts exposed to the north, the waves will be more pronounced, with waves of up to 1.5 meters, due to the constant push of the trade winds.
