Intentional fire leaves two arrested and rental cars burned in Maspalomas

This is a fire initially caused by a third individual who was hooded who subsequently fled.

The fire resulted in a vehicle from a car rental business being burned, a large awning from the business itself being burned, and a window glass from the store being fractured.

Thanks to quick police action, two other vehicles were prevented from burning.

Agents of the National Police have arrested two men, aged 38 and 26, in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, both with numerous police records, as alleged perpetrators of a crime of damage by fire. A third man, who initially started the fire, managed to flee the scene. This is a fire caused by two vehicles owned by a car rental business located in Maspalomas.

 

In the early hours of August 14, the National Police received a call from a citizen through the CIMACC Room at telephone number 091, reporting on the occurrence at that time of a fire caused by a hooded man at some vehicles.

 

Several agents were sent to the place where the events were taking place and the speed in the actions of the police managed to avoid further damage.

 

The location where the vehicles were located is owned by a vehicle rental business.

 

The fire resulted in a burned vehicle, leaving it in a state of total disaster, a large awning burned and a window glass of the premises fractured.

 

The quick action of the police managed to prevent two other vehicles from burning as well. Once the firefighters arrive at the scene, they proceed to extinguish said arson, using approximately 1.500 liters of water.

 

Once the fire was put out, a search was carried out around the area where the events occurred, locating about 10 meters away and on the sidewalk a plastic bottle containing a liquid with a strong smell of gasoline.

 

Thanks to citizen collaboration and effective police action and the investigation carried out, two men were located and arrested as alleged perpetrators of a crime of damage.

 

Once the police procedures at the police station were completed, the detainees were placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority.

 

The investigation remains open and new arrests are not ruled out.
