Residents of several complexes in San Bartolomé de Tirajana have expressed their frustration to this newspaper after almost three weeks without receiving any mail. Some of those affected went to the Correos del Mercurio office in search of answers to the worrying situation.
The cause of the problem is believed to be a drastic reduction in delivery staff. Of the 20 regular postmen assigned to the area, only four are still active, as the rest are on holiday without having been replaced. This lack of staff has caused a collapse in the distribution of mail, affecting the majority of residents in the town, according to a user of the service.
Based on the information gathered, it is expected that measures will be taken to try to resolve this problem starting next Monday. With the start of September, we remain hopeful that the postal service will return to normal as soon as possible.
