Thousands of people packed the Avenida de Los Pescadores on Friday during the most anticipated festival of the summer

Arinaga celebrated this Friday the 28th edition of the Vará del Pescao, the multitudinous festival that every summer pays homage to its seafaring roots. The event, framed in the programme of the Fiestas del Pino, brought together thousands of people on Avenida de Los Pescadores, who, in addition to enjoying good music, were able to delight their palates by tasting the star food of the festival, grilled sardines.

The Vará began in the early afternoon with the long-awaited arrival of the boat with the fresh fish, announced by the characteristic sound of the bucios, and the traditional procession, which went along the entire avenue to the sound of the popular melodies of the folkloric groups. People of all ages remembered those men and women of the sea, inhabitants of Arinaga, who once sold their humble catches to earn a living to support their families.

The icing on the cake was the fireworks display that, like every year, lit up the night sky of the coastal town, wowing those present. The celebration then continued along the Avenida de Los Pescadores with performances by Yeray Socorro and Apolo GC in the Ficus area and by DJ Antonio Boada at the First Aid Station.
