On August 27, the Civil Guard of Gran Canaria arrested a 78-year-old German national who had a valid European Arrest Warrant (EAW) from Germany, requesting that the authorities of that country proceed to search for and arrest the person in question for extradition, for the alleged crime of fraud of more than one million euros.
With the initial information provided by the German authorities through the SIRENE office in Spain, the Territorial Team of the Neighbourhood Judicial Police carried out the appropriate verification inquiries, identifying him and locating him in a house in Playa de Arinaga - Agüimes.
The Civil Guard made the necessary inquiries and after carrying out numerous discreet surveillances in the vicinity of the possible addresses of the wanted person, they managed to locate his home in the town of Playa de Arinaga – Agüimes. Once his address was confirmed and after verifying that the warning was still valid, he was arrested by Civil Guard officers on August 27, 2024.
For all these reasons, he was brought before the corresponding Court of Instruction number one of Telde, who in coordination with the Central Court of Instruction number 5 of the National Court (Madrid) agreed to his imprisonment.
