The race for the new school season has begun. The centres in the south of Gran Canaria are preparing after the summer renovations to receive thousands of schoolchildren of multiple nationalities, including Menas, and the families of the region will spend 491,9 euros per child on the return to school, 10% more than last year, according to the online price comparison portal idealo.es. This budget includes textbooks, which account for the largest part of the expenditure at 342 euros, followed by stationery, sports shoes, tracksuits and backpacks. Consumer and user associations recommend reusing as much material as possible from the previous year, resorting to second-hand purchases, planning expenses in advance, not being carried away by brands or offers that involve buying more material than necessary, and comparing prices in different physical establishments, but also when buying online.

In the case of physical establishments in the south of Gran Canaria, it is essential to check the return period in each store, since the return without cause is not obligatory and is subject to the policies of each establishment, as well as checking that, if the return without cause is by means of a voucher, it must be known that it cannot have an expiration date. If the money does not expire and a voucher is a form of money, it cannot expire either. In addition, you must always keep the purchase receipt, since this will be the document that will allow you to claim the product warranty, and check that the establishments where you buy have claim forms.

In the case of online commerce, you must ensure that you browse the Internet safely and that delivery is secure in the Canary Islands. One of the main recommendations is to check that the device is properly configured and protected, to avoid any malware that could compromise the data provided by the user. You should also avoid public Wi-Fi networks, since they do not have a security guarantee, as well as checking that the address of the online store begins with 'HTTPS' and that a padlock appears in the address bar. This determines that the information being transmitted is encrypted.

Allianz Partners, an Insurance and Assistance company with a wide presence in the south of Gran Canaria, points out the importance of knowing the legal framework that covers each purchase we make for the return to school, both in physical and online establishments, as well as the customer's rights over the products, which are also 10% more expensive this year than last. Paz Tejedor, Head of Assistance and Legal Protection at Allianz Partners, points out that "all of this is essential to guarantee safe purchases that protect our data and banking transactions, as well as the rights we have over the purchases we make. At the same time, responsible management of both physical and online purchases helps us reduce the financial impact that the return to school has on many families" and that "our objective is to accompany the customer to offer them the best guarantees of security and peace of mind".
