From this October, TUI is launching its first charter route from Stockholm Skavsta Airport to Gran Canaria. From this autumn, it will be possible to fly directly to Gran Canaria and meet the demand from the south of the island in view of the disastrous supply in Las Palmas capital, with problems with public transport works that have already lasted longer than a high-speed line between Berlin and Rome, which is saying something.
From 16 October, TUI will offer charter flights from Skavsta in cooperation with the airline Jettime. The route is operated weekly until 13 April 2025 inclusive. There are a total of 23 departures. "We see an increased demand for travel to the Canary Islands and are therefore pleased to be able to fly to Gran Canaria from Stockholm's Skavsta Airport as well. We know that many people prefer Skavsta because of its convenient location and size. Now our customers in the region have even greater freedom of choice when planning their next sun holiday," says Thomas Serban, TUI's Sales Director for the Nordic countries.
Stockholm Skavsta Airport has Level 1 certification from Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA), an organisation that certifies carbon management at airports, and is continuing its process of obtaining the highest certification. It is also seeking ISO 14001 certification, a standard that demonstrates a company's commitment to the environment with regard to its Environmental Management System.
This Vinci Airports infrastructure maintains the effort to find ways to make aviation more sustainable and interact with society for a better environment, says the French company, which in Gran Canaria is carrying out the Chira Soria macro sustainable energy project for Red Eléctrica de España.
