This week, the residents of La Orilla are celebrating the festivals of the Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre and San Vicente Paúl. The celebrations began on Saturday, September 7, with events during the day and the traditional Eucharist at night. Throughout this week, various recreational, cultural and festive activities are scheduled, which will culminate at the weekend with the pilgrimage on Saturday and the foam party on Sunday.

This Wednesday afternoon there will be a dance for the elderly with the group Nueva Imagen y su Bandurria and the day of the elderly will be celebrated with churros and chocolate. On Thursday at 18.30 there will be a Salto del Pastor and then a Baile de Taifas and a paella night. On Friday the music will be provided by Brillantes and Ariel.

On Saturday at 18pm there will be a pilgrimage, followed by a performance by HD Music at 21pm, Paco Guedes at midnight and low-impact fireworks. On Sunday 24th September there will be a foam and dragon party.

The festival of the Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre in La Orilla has its origins in the Cuban community settled in Santa Lucía de Tirajana. At the end of the seventies of the last century, Aida de Varona and her husband Marcelo Luaces, arrived from Cuba and contributed to the construction of the church of La Orilla, which they dedicated to the patron saint of Cuba.
