Local products and clean energy come together to transform the Southeast region
This Friday, September 13, the Feria Km.0 Gran Canaria, Sureste edition, and the Feria del Sol were officially presented at the Agüimes Fairgrounds. They will be held jointly on September 21 and 22 from 09:00 to 14:00 in the same venue. The event was attended by the president of the Mancomunidad del Sureste and mayor of Santa Lucía de Tirajana, Francisco García; the mayor of Ingenio, Vanesa Martín; and the mayor of Agüimes, Óscar Hernández.
Km.0 Gran Canaria Fair: Promoting local consumption and sustainability
The Km.0 Gran Canaria Fair aims to highlight the importance of consuming local products, promoting fair and more sustainable trade. Visitors will be able to enjoy a wide variety of quality agri-food products, such as fruits, vegetables, wines, cheeses, honey, and other fresh foods, all produced in Gran Canaria. This traveling event seeks to boost the development of the local economy, reducing the dependence on products transported over long distances and supporting the preservation of the island's landscape.
Sun Fair: Innovation and clean energy
Alongside the Km.0 Fair, the Feria del Sol will be held, organised by the Mancomunidad del Sureste in collaboration with the municipalities of Agüimes, Ingenio and Santa Lucía de Tirajana. This event aims to raise awareness among the population about the relevance of renewable and sustainable energies, presenting the latest technological innovations in the sector.
Both fairs highlight the commitment of the Mancomunidad del Sureste to a more environmentally friendly development model, where clean energy and local consumption play a central role.
A more sustainable future for Gran Canaria
The Km.0 Fair and the Sun Fair invite citizens to be part of a more sustainable future, supporting local producers and exploring innovative renewable energy solutions. A large number of visitors are expected over the two days, consolidating these events as a key driver for the economy and sustainability of the Southeast region.
In the words of the president of the Mancomunidad del Sureste, Francisco García, who presented the event, he commented that "from the Mancomunidad, we feel proud to promote events like these, which not only value local companies and the strategic sectors of energy and agri-food, but also remind us of the importance of moving towards a more sustainable future. The Km.0 Fair is a space that promotes local consumption and fair trade, a great platform for the economic development of the region with the participation of 60 agri-food producers."
"The Feria del Sol is a benchmark in the Canary Islands for the clean energy sector. This year, we have the participation of 8 companies dedicated to renewable energy and energy efficiency, as well as 13 sustainable mobility companies. Visitors will be able to learn about the latest trends in clean energy, from thermal and photovoltaic solar panels to urban mobility devices and drones," said Francisco García.
