The Councillor for Tourism and part of the council's team attended the last conference with the aim of learning about new developments in the sector that may be applicable to the municipality.
The most important forum at a national level for tourism communication and marketing, the Overbooking Gran Canaria & Hosteltur Summit (OVB24) was held on the morning of Thursday, September 12, at the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The event, promoted by the Gran Canaria Tourism Department in collaboration with Hosteltur, aimed to promote networking between tourism agents in the country and marketing and communication professionals, encouraging recognition of trades and professionals in the main subsectors of the industry.
The OVB24 programme – organised in round tables, presentations and analysis of interesting cases – brought together prestigious speakers, who shared experiences that they have successfully developed in their respective organisations and reviewed the latest trends and advances, especially technological, to innovate in the tourism sector. The application and development of artificial intelligence was one of the main protagonists.
Representing the municipality of Ingenio, the Councillor for Tourism, Rubén Cruz, together with part of the council's team, attended the event with a clear objective: to identify trends and opportunities that can be applied to the tourist development of the town of Ingenio. According to Cruz, the presence at this type of event is key to "learning and capturing new ideas that allow us to continue promoting tourism in our municipality." The councillor highlighted the importance of this type of meeting, as "it is essential to be aware of the innovations and good practices that are being implemented in other destinations to adapt them to our own particularities," he said.
The Tourism team of the Ingenio Town Council not only focused on new trends in the sector, but also on strengthening relationships with other tourism agents and exploring possible collaborations that could benefit the municipality. Active participation in the forum reinforces the commitment of the council to continue supporting quality, sustainable tourism adapted to new market demands.
