The Government approves granting a subsidy of 297.470 euros to the City Council to undertake the development of the section of that route that runs through that Gran Canaria municipality.
The Government Council of the Canary Islands approved today, at the proposal of the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, to grant a direct subsidy to the City Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana to finance the costs of conditioning the section of the Camino de Santiago between Volcanoes that passes through it. Gran Canaria municipality. There are 297.470 euros of public support. This intervention joins the one already planned for the municipalities of Gáldar and Tejeda, municipalities of Gran Canaria through which the Camino passes, in addition to Artenara, San Mateo, Moya, Valleseco and Guía.
On this occasion, the subsidy to the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council is for the amount of 297.470 euros. The project is based on the need to promote the conservation, protection, promotion and development of natural and cultural heritage, as well as to develop natural areas with public tourist interest and revalue this natural resource, promoting the socio-territorial balance of new categories of products, capable of operating all year round based on the differentiation and specialization of tourist destinations.
Canary Islands Tourism has been promoting the remodeling and promotion of the Camino de Santiago, not only from a historical and cultural perspective, but also as a tourism product in which sustainability, integration with the territory and diversification contribute to enhancing the generation of circular economy.
