King Felipe VI received the Gold Medal of the Parliament of the Canary Islands on Thursday in Tenerife from the President of the House, Astrid Pérez, who promoted this recognition. She stressed that “this distinction aims to reaffirm the permanent commitment that links the Crown and the Canary Islands,” and added that “granting this honorary consideration to the Head of State is an act of justice, since His Majesty has fulfilled, fulfills and will fulfill an outstanding service to the Autonomous Community, with which he maintains a special link.” In the afternoon he took a walk with the President of Italy in Vegueta.
