One month before the Christmas holidays, the San Bartolomé de Tirajana Town Council will begin the outdoor installation of the Christmas lighting on Avenida Italia, under the supervision of the councillor for public lighting. The installation of the supports will be carried out at the beginning of November with a budget of 1,5 million euros because they will be packaged for several years and avoid unpleasant surprises. Avenida de Gáldar, in San Fernando, will centralise the events of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana Town Council to stage the switching on of the Christmas lighting that has been installed in all the neighbourhoods of the municipality.
A municipal source told Maspalomas24H that "we are preparing for the Christmas season and the council is investing in making public spaces attractive to boost consumption in shops and restaurants. With the lighting we aim to create urban life in our streets and fill them with activity." All the decorative elements that are going to adorn our streets represent an investment to generate an attraction for residents and tourists that also invites local businesses to spend money in them. The latter, in theory.
The first phase of the lighting installation will be carried out on Avenida de Italia and the streets of Tejeda, Tunte and Gran Canaria. Work will then be carried out on other streets in Meloneras, Maspalomas, Playa del Inglés, San Agustín and El Tablero. After finishing in the tourist area, the workers will move on to the different neighbourhoods, starting with Tunte, Fataga, Cercado Espino, El Pajar, Aldea Blanca, Castillo and Juan Grande. The estimated completion of the installation work is on 22 November.
