“They will warn about the risk of practices such as sexting and grooming”
Sexting: Sending sexually explicit messages or images via electronic devices. It can lead to harassment, loss of control over privacy and emotional consequences.
Grooming: This is the process by which an adult gains the trust of a minor through the Internet with the aim of abusing him or her. This includes emotional manipulation and the creation of deceptive relationships.
The National Police will intensify the fight against bullying at school with the start of the new school year through the delegates of Citizen Participation. These actions are part of the "Master Plan for Coexistence and Improvement of Security in Educational Centers and their Environments", which covers the entire educational community, including teachers, students and AMPAS. During the 2023/2024 school year, 31.408 training and informational actions were carried out by more than 500 police experts.
For the 2024/2025 school year, the National Police will reactivate preventive work in educational centers under the Master Plan. The activities will be coordinated by the Central Unit for Citizen Participation and carried out by territorial delegations throughout Spain, ensuring permanent contact between the National Police and society.
The Citizen Participation delegations adapt their work to local needs, focusing on the comprehensive protection of children and adolescents against violence, especially sexual violence and violence in the digital environment. Meetings are held with the educational community to offer technical advice and specialized support, as well as training activities that promote the detection and prevention of antisocial behavior.
The Master Plan also includes collaborations with various institutions to create information material and awareness campaigns. Among the initiatives are the “Cyberexpert@ Training Program”, aimed at 6th grade primary school students, and the book “The Secrets Club”, designed to prevent violence against children. In addition, complementary activities are carried out so that young people are aware of the police resources available.
