The festival will be held from September 27 to 28 and will feature Efecto Pasillo as headliner
The Department of Tourism of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana Town Council is organising the second edition of Tourifest Maspalomas, an event that, after its successful debut last year, is back with more force and new features to commemorate World Tourism Day. The festival will take place on the beach of Annex II of Playa del Inglés, from 27 to 28 September, and its theme will be “Tourism and Peace”, uniting the local community and visitors in a space of coexistence and fun.
News and attractions of Tourifest 2024
As explained by the Councillor for Tourism, Festivities and Events, Yilenia Vega (CC), “this year, Tourifest is expanding its range of activities, consolidating itself as an essential event for both tourists and residents.” One of its main attractions, Vega points out, is the celebration of open-air concerts on the beach itself, where local rhythms are combined with international artists, “making the festival a space for musical and cultural diversity.” This year the headliner will be Efecto Pasillo, who will perform on Saturday 28 September at 19:00 p.m. But there will also be performances by Bamboleo, Aseres, Aduen Amaya, Salvapantallas and Kenneth, among other musical groups; as well as DJs on both days.
The festival will also have areas dedicated to gastronomy, where attendees will be able to taste typical Canarian dishes and proposals from international chefs, in a show that highlights the culinary wealth that tourism brings to San Bartolomé de Tirajana. A yoga MasterClass will also be organised, inviting participants to enjoy the natural environment while promoting peace and understanding between cultures.
Last year, Tourifest brought together more than 10.000 people over the weekend, from different parts of the world, consolidating Maspalomas as a key destination for event and festival tourism. As highlighted by the Councillor for Tourism, Festivities and Events, Yilenia Vega, “Tourifest promises to be a resounding success, becoming a must-see event in the calendar of events in our municipality and on our Island. It offers a very tempting combination of music, culture, gastronomy and activities with which we not only celebrate tourism, but also its ability to bring people together.” Vega adds that Tourifest has been designed for all audiences, with special attention to families, “so that they can enjoy activities that will bring life to the sands of Playa del Inglés, creating a festive and multicultural atmosphere.”
The first deputy mayor, Alejandro Marichal, has highlighted the success of this initiative and the expectations generated in this second edition, with which the Department of Tourism manages to "promote our destination through tourists who are already staying in our municipality." Marichal underlines the importance of organizing international events that allow tourists to discover the full potential of Maspalomas Costa Canaria, as well as offering our residents leisure activities that allow coexistence and fun in an unbeatable environment such as our beaches."
