Technicians from the Maspalomas Gran Canaria Consortium supervise the progress of the works in the Palm Grove Oasis

 

This morning, the Maspalomas Gran Canaria Consortium carried out a technical visit to the Oasis Palmeral, one of the most important enclaves in the region, to supervise the progress of the works included in the 2021-2024 Modernisation Plan. During the visit, specialised technicians from the Consortium and the construction company of the Tragsa Group reviewed the progress of the works that seek to improve access, preserve the natural environment and integrate sustainable infrastructures.

 

To date, 203 palm trees have been pruned and 31 tonnes of vegetation waste, mainly palm branches, have been removed from the main areas that make up the future Palm Grove Oasis. These cleaning tasks have been carried out following a suitable phytosanitary treatment for all palm trees once the pruning was completed, in compliance with environmental regulations.

 

Reeds have also been removed and three sick palm trees have been cut down, with the corresponding authorization. Currently, the removal of waste is pending in the central area, which is closest to the Tony Gallardo Park, and another portion in the middle of the area.

 

The visit was carried out with the aim of learning about the status of the interventions, which seek to improve and preserve the natural environment, and the implementation of sustainable infrastructures in an environment that is key both from a tourist and environmental point of view.

 

The Palm Oasis, located near the Charca de Maspalomas, is a natural area with a rich diversity of flora and fauna. With the work to be carried out, it is expected that it will become an attractive point of interest, capable of attracting thousands of visitors each year. This recovery project is part of the long-term commitment of the Maspalomas Gran Canaria Consortium, which aims to position the municipality and the city as a sustainable tourist destination.
