Green light for the Cabildo's cooperation works for an amount of €876.516 for repaving, the expansion of the Lomo Maspalomas cemetery and shaded areas in the Tunte picnic area
The San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council approved, at its ordinary plenary session in September, various key measures to improve public services and urban development. The most notable was the updating of the waste collection service, with the contracting of the supply of new containers and the separate collection of waste such as light packaging, paper, textiles and used oil. The contract, which had been expired since 2019, will be divided into two lots, with a total budget of more than 5 million euros, and is expected to be awarded in 2025.
In urban planning, the plenary gave the green light to the expansion of the Bellavista sector, where 1.360 homes will be built, of which 30% will be social housing. In addition, the planning in El Tablero was modified to increase the capacity for building housing, and a plot in Juan Grande was released for the construction of 40 public housing units for the residents of El Matorral. The budget for several works in 2025 was also approved, including the expansion of the Lomo de Maspalomas cemetery and the repaving of municipal roads.
Other agreements include the creation of a Low Emissions Zone in San Fernando de Maspalomas to reduce vehicle pollution, and the signing of cooperation agreements in areas such as social research and educational improvement. The plenary also awarded the Gold Medal to Lorenzo Castejón Mateo, who was General Secretary of the council for more than three decades, in recognition of his career and contribution to local democracy.
