The Romeral Castle celebrates 100 years of its festivities in honor of San Miguel and the Virgin of Carmen

The Castillo del Romeral will begin its traditional festivities in honour of the Archangel Saint Michael and the Virgin of Carmen, celebrating its centenary this year from 27 September to 6 October. Organised by the town's festival committee and with the support of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana Festivities and Events Department, the festivities will include a varied programme of popular and religious events for all audiences. Councillor Yilenia Vega highlighted the efforts of the residents in creating a special programme in honour of 100 years of festive tradition in the fishing village.

 

The programme begins with a parade, followed by the water festival and the proclamation, and during the weekend there will be a procession and musical performances by local groups. Throughout the week, events will be held such as the dance and sports gala, domino and petanque tournaments, and the election of the Junior and Senior queen. There will also be activities for adults and children, including a street party, a salsa workshop and musical performances by groups such as Grupo Leyenda Joven and Orquesta Armonía Show.

 

 

 

 

 

The closing of the festivities will be full of tradition and fun, highlighting the procession and boat ride on Saturday, followed by a barbecue and a night party with fireworks. Sunday will end with the Diana Floreada, mass, procession, and musical performances, concluding with a chocolate breakfast with churros. Vega highlighted the importance of these festivities not only as a religious event, but as a community meeting point that reflects the history, faith and unity of the residents of Castillo del Romeral.
