A fire in a food truck located on the beach of Anexo II of Playa del Inglés, in San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Gran Canaria, caused moments of alarm today due to a deep fryer that was on. The incident occurred at around 17 p.m. Despite the incident, the Maspalomas Tourifest event, scheduled for today and tomorrow, is expected to take place without incident.
The fire started inside the vehicle, with a large amount of black smoke coming out of a hole. The owner tried to put out the flames with a fire extinguisher, but her efforts were unsuccessful. As the fire intensified, nearby businesses in Annex II began to evacuate the area as a precaution.
Firefighters from the Municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana responded quickly to the emergency. They managed to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading to the adjacent shops and the tents set up in the sand for the Maspalomas Tourifest event.
Despite the scare, authorities have confirmed that the incident will not affect the celebration of the Maspalomas Tourifest. This event, organised by Turismo San Bartolomé de Tirajana, will take place from 27 to 28 September on the beach of Anexo II of Playa del Inglés.
