The Maspalomas Lighthouse, emblematic witness of the National Police Day

The Government Delegate in the Canary Islands, Anselmo Pestana, and the Chief of Police, Jesús María Gómez, have presided over the central event of Police Day in San Bartolomé de Tirajana, paying tribute to the fallen officers and decorating 54 police officers and 24 people for their support of police work.

 

The National Police held the main event of Police Day last Friday in Maspalomas (San Bartolomé de Tirajana), chaired by the Government Delegate in the Canary Islands, Anselmo Pestana Padrón, and the Chief of Police of the Canary Islands, Jesús María Gómez Martín. The presidential table was also made up of the Mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Marco Aurelio Pérez Sánchez, the Minister of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, Esther María Monzón Monzón, and General Juan Hernández Mosquera, Head of the XVI Canary Islands Zone of the Civil Guard.

During the event, tribute was paid to officers who died in the line of duty and police merit decorations were awarded. A total of 54 officers and 12 people from outside the National Police were honoured, along with 13 award winners whose collaboration has been fundamental to police work.

 

As part of the celebrations, a police equipment exhibition was held on September 25 in the South Park of Maspalomas. 800 children from 8 schools in San Bartolomé de Tirajana participated in this activity, enjoying a police exhibition.
