Ceisa, a non-Canarian company of the Masaveu group, dedicated to the manufacture of cement, mortar, concrete and prefabricated products, based in the south of Gran Canaria, has carried out a first digital transformation process where occupational health and safety has been the central axis of the change, so they have focused on achieving excellence in this area thanks to technology. To do this, the company Velorcios has developed a plan where occupational health has been the central axis of the change in common agreement with the Construction Employers' Association of Las Palmas.
The cement industry, which is particularly energy-consuming and emits greenhouse gases, is subject to severe legal and environmental restrictions. Its energy efficiency is indeed a major challenge. However, the cement production process is complex and the need for fuel and electricity depends on multiple factors: quality of the cement produced, cement manufacturing process used, parameters of the firing lines, storage of materials, filter performance, choice of fossil or alternative fuels, chemical composition of the raw material. There are many factors that hinder its energy optimization.
This transformation of the cement industry is driven by mass data processing, the ability to connect in real time, customized production on demand and a benchmark for smart factories. This process aims to optimize the use of raw materials and energy, while improving information flows with greater efficiency to generate construction solutions that respond to the demands of 21st century society, with high performance and greater added value in terms of technical performance and environmental contribution.
