Maspalomas companies review purchases from Boluda for torpedoing Domingo Alonso

Companies from the port of Las Palmas with interests in the hotel and non-hotel sector of Las Palmas have begun to review the purchases of logistics services from Boluda for torpedoing the Domingo Alonso Group project. "This is a blunder," said the manager of a tourist establishment in the Campo Internacional de Maspalomas. Domingo Alonso, who has the support of Canarian, German and British companies with long-standing interests in tourism in the south of Gran Canaria, has created a logistics platform for cars and Boluda, which until now was a supplier, has created one to compete with the island company. This has been viewed very negatively in business circles in the south of Gran Canaria.

"The attack is on everyone, little by little the Valencians will realise this, we have the order from the owners, we have already told the transport providers of Arinaga and Telde, that the goods should be contracted with Trasmediterránea Naviera Armas, JSV or Suardiaz," said the purchasing director of a hotel in Playa del Inglés. Boluda is involved in this issue with other allies: the Venezuelan company Toyota Canarias, the Izquier group (Renault, Dacia, Mazda, Nissan, Kia and Isuzu) and the Cabrera Medina Group (Ciccar, the Orvecame group from Lanzarote). The pressure group has added to its interests the dockers' union of Puerto de la Luz, who earn an average monthly salary of 8.800 euros and prevent islanders from entering to work there.

The project is being carried out at the Boluda Maritime Terminals Las Palmas facilities in Puerto de La Luz, where a 18.000 square metre ramp has been fitted out to store 1.100 vehicles. A long-time CEO of a hotel chain in the south of Gran Canaria who asked not to be named said that "the Alonsos have not asked for support, the employers' association only does what Tenerife tells them, but we are going to review the purchases from the wholesalers, and we are going to control how the merchandise arrives here."
