The victim collided with a maintenance vehicle of the Gran Canaria Council's Road Service
This morning, a 51-year-old man is in critical condition after a serious accident that occurred on the GC-1, heading south, near the municipality of Mogán. The incident took place at 07:43 hours, when the vehicle driven by the victim collided with a maintenance vehicle of the Gran Canaria Council's Road Service.
The Canary Islands Government's Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES) 1-1-2 immediately received the alert and activated all the necessary emergency resources. Among the services dispatched to the scene were the medical helicopter of the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), a medical ambulance, a basic life support ambulance, the Firefighters of the Gran Canaria Emergency Consortium, Civil Protection of Mogán and the Civil Guard.
The SUC medical staff attended to the victim, who had serious multiple injuries. Given the severity of his injuries, air evacuation was requested using the SUC's medical helicopter. The man was transferred in critical condition to the Insular University Hospital of Gran Canaria.
Firefighters from the Gran Canaria Emergency Consortium and Civil Protection of Mogán collaborated in the assistance work at the scene of the accident, while the Civil Guard was in charge of regulating traffic and has begun the instruction of the corresponding proceedings.
The SUC and the other services involved continue to work to ensure the well-being of the affected person and guarantee safety on the road.
