The Government declares a pre-alert for coastal phenomena in Tenerife, La Palma, El Hierro, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura
The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has activated alerts in the Canary Islands due to the passage of the storm Kirk, which will significantly affect the archipelago, especially in coastal areas and areas exposed to the wind. For Thursday, October 10, 2024, adverse coastal phenomena are expected with waves of 2 to 3 meters and winds reaching 50 km/h, mainly on the islands of La Palma, El Hierro, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura; and the northern coast of Tenerife.

During the weekend, temperatures in Gran Canaria will range between 23°C and 29°C, with cloudy intervals and the possibility of light rain in some areas of the north. Areas in the southeast and south of Gran Canaria will experience clearer skies, although with strong winds and waves, which has led authorities to recommend caution on beaches and outdoor activities.
The storm associated with Kirk will gradually lose strength as the weekend progresses, although it will continue to cause increased waves on the most exposed coasts, so it is advisable to take extreme precautions on the coast, avoid water sports and stay away from breakwaters or high-risk areas.
