The president of the Port of Las Palmas, Beatriz Calzada, has given the green light for the bulk cargo company Gramelcan to operate in Arinaga without the costs incurred by the stevedores of Las Palmas. The board of directors has granted the port service license for handling goods to Gramelcan after verifying how the service is being carried out.
For Beatriz Calzada, "in view of the monitoring carried out by this Port Authority following the request of some councillors during the September meeting to verify whether Gramelcan was complying with the provision of port services, we have proceeded to inspect the operation and have been able to verify that the persons carrying out the operations are duly accredited by Puertos del Estado."
The Port Authority of Las Palmas has also joined the WindEurope Association, to which other ports such as Bilbao, Tarragona and A Coruña already belong, for the development of wind energy and to promote research, development and innovation in wind energy.
In other matters, the Council has agreed to appoint María Fernández as representative of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands on the Board of Directors of the Port Authority of Las Palmas and the dismissal of Airam Díaz. In addition, the Maritime Captain of Las Palmas, Francisco García, and Jesús Requena, representative of Puertos del Estado, have said goodbye to the Council, and the president has thanked them for their service during these years in the Port Authority.
