The Department of Senior Citizens of the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana has organised a trip for more than 50 senior citizens that has taken them to explore Jaén and Granada, an enriching experience that has allowed them to learn about the history and culture of this beautiful region. During their stay, the participants visited emblematic cities such as Jaén, Úbeda and Baeza, where they were able to admire the impressive Renaissance architecture and the famous olive groves that produce the acclaimed extra virgin olive oil. In Granada, the senior citizens enjoyed the majestic Alhambra, a monument declared a World Heritage Site that reflects the richness of Islamic history in Spain, as well as the charming Albacín neighbourhood, known for its narrow cobbled streets and panoramic view of the city.

As explained by the Councillor for the Elderly and Social Services, Dimas Sarmiento, “this trip is part of the actions carried out by the Council to offer the residents of the municipality leisure activities that encourage socialisation and enjoyment in company. Through these initiatives, we seek to promote active and healthy ageing, as well as enrich the quality of life of our elderly.”
