A 26-year-old man has been taken in a serious condition to the Insular University Hospital of Gran Canaria after suffering a quad bike accident in the municipality of Mogán. The incident occurred at around 11:41 am, and mobilised several emergency services.
On Friday morning, the Canary Islands Government's 1-1-2 Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES) received an alert about an accident that had occurred in Llano de Cortadores, Mogán. A young man had overturned while participating in an excursion with other vehicles and was unconscious. Given the seriousness of the incident, the necessary resources were quickly activated to attend to him.
The Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) deployed a medical helicopter and an ambulance to assist the injured person. Upon arriving at the scene, the medical staff assessed the young man who had severe head trauma. After receiving initial assistance and being stabilised, he was transferred directly to the hospital by medical helicopter.
In addition to the SUC, other bodies such as the Civil Guard, Local Police and Civil Protection participated. Although the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) and the Firefighters of the Gran Canaria Emergency Consortium were also mobilized, their intervention was not necessary because access for the helicopter was easy.
This incident highlights the effectiveness and coordination between the various emergency services in critical situations that require rapid responses to save lives.
