The national strike called for Monday, October 28, 2024 will impact public transport in Gran Canaria, with special emphasis on the south and southeast of the island. The unions in the sector have organized this strike to demand better working conditions, focusing on the demand for early retirement for professional drivers, due to the growing work pressure facing the sector. This mobilization, which has been joined by Comisiones Obreras (CCOO) and the Unión General de Trabajadores (UGT), seeks to ensure better safety and health conditions in the profession.

To mitigate the impact of this strike on the movement of citizens and tourists in Gran Canaria, the Gran Canaria Transport Authority (AUTGC) has established minimum services. These routes will operate with frequencies similar to those of a public holiday, in addition to having additional trips on key lines that connect Las Palmas with the tourist and residential municipalities of the south, such as Maspalomas, Playa del Inglés and Mogán. These minimum services will guarantee basic connectivity in high-demand areas during the strike day, which will run from 00:00 to 23:59.

Passengers are advised to check specific schedules and available routes via Global's official website, where they will find a detailed breakdown of minimum services. This measure seeks to reduce the impact of the strike on daily activities by maintaining a minimum offer.
