From November 8 to 10, a new edition of one of the most important events for the promotion of agri-food and artisanal products in the region will take place
On the morning of this Wednesday, October 30, the Mancomunidad del Sureste de Gran Canaria presented the XXI edition of the Feria del Sureste. This event is already a consolidated meeting to promote the agro-food and artisanal wealth of the region that, as every year, is a great success, and will be held on November 8, 9 and 10 on Avenida de Canarias, in Vecindario. The event was attended by the president of the Mancomunidad and mayor of Santa Lucía de Tirajana, Francisco García, the first vice president and mayor of the City Council of Ingenio, Vanesa Martín, and the second vice president and mayor of the City Council of Agüimes, Óscar Hernández.
The Feria del Sureste is not only a commercial space, but also a cultural event that brings together more than 100.000 people, offering a wide programme rich in cultural activities, demonstrations of crafts and gastronomic tastings. There will be 150 stands from the municipalities of the southeast region, Santa Lucía de Tirajana, Agüimes and Ingenio.
The president of the Association, Francisco García, explained that “the Feria del Sureste continues to develop with the same philosophy that was born 20 years ago where farmers, ranchers and artisans can sell their products directly to visitors.” “They are products from km 0 and are products made by our artisans with great care, following the ancestral traditions of basketry, carpentry and also the new innovations that have been made in this field,” he stressed.

García did not miss the opportunity to invite “all citizens of the island of Gran Canaria to participate in this fair because we will not only be able to observe and buy and acquire agri-food products, but we will also be able to enjoy livestock displays, musical activities, traditional folklore and, also, one more year we will dare to put on our aprons and put on a cooking show with professional chefs from each municipality.”
The Mayor of Ingenio, Vanesa Martín, pointed out that, although there are only 50 stalls per municipality, “there are more and more applications to participate in the Fair and work is being done to ensure that there is room for more stands.” “Whoever does not come to this fair will regret it because it is a unique opportunity to find top quality KM0 products that, perhaps, are not found in large facilities. There will undoubtedly be an agro-food wealth that we must not fail to make visible,” said the mayor.
Likewise, the mayor of Agüimes, Óscar Hernández, commented that the fair “is one of the most important milestones in terms of the work projection carried out by the Mancomunidad del Sureste and its commitment to the need to care for our local production.” “The fair is a showcase that the three municipalities boast about as a meeting point for citizens,” added Hernández.
The three councillors also had plenty of words to thank the entire organisation of the event.
