The neighborhood platform 'Save the Bay of Santa Águeda, which was formally established last August to fight against the urban speculation that threatens the area, has exceeded 20.000 signatures in support of its cause. The association celebrates this figure, which exceeded its initial goal of 15.000 signatures with which they seek to convey the problem to the Canarian political class.
The association is made up of the neighborhood groups of El Pajar de Arguineguín, the El Pajar Neighborhood Association, the AMPA, the Senior Citizens Club and the Festival Commission, who joined legally on August 6 to form the 'Save' Platform. the Bay of Santa Águeda'. Among the actions, the collection of signatures stands out, both in Change.org as well as in person in different parts of the island such as Santa Águeda beach, the Gran Canaria stadium and in other Gran Canaria municipalities. Likewise, the members of the neighborhood group have carried out various protest actions, such as the formation of a human chain on the beachfront, where the spokespersons explained to the citizens the urban and maritime plans that endanger the integrity of this strip. of the coastline.
The president and spokesperson of 'Save the Bay of Santa Águeda', Antonio Juan Mariano Trujillo, has reported that the platform was created "with the objective of conveying to Gran Canaria public opinion the destruction that is projected on a beach" that has "thousands of of users from all corners of the island.”
