MASPALOMAS24H Thursday, October 31, 2024

The conferences, with free admission, will be held on November 8 and 9 at the IES Amurga pavilion in San Fernando de Maspalomas

Yilenia Vega: “Young people will have a unique experience of learning and exploring the digital field, focused on technological training and the responsible use of technology”

On November 8 and 9, 2024, the IES Amurga pavilion in San Fernando de Maspalomas will be the setting for Tech&Teach, an innovative event that will offer entertainment, training and digital prevention for young people on the island. Organized by the Department of Tourism, Festivals and Events of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council in collaboration with the Government of the Canary Islands within the Science and Innovation Weeks in the Canary Islands 2024, Tech&Teach "is positioned as a unique learning and exploration experience in the digital field, focused on technological training and the responsible use of technology," explains the councilor, Yilenia Vega.

This event, with free entry, opens its doors to all those interested in the digital field, from young people and adults to families and teachers, offering an exceptional opportunity to learn, have fun and explore the possibilities of the digital world in a safe and supervised space. The aim is to introduce young people to the digital tools necessary to make safe and efficient use of technology. For two days, participants will be able to enjoy workshops and interactive activities in areas as diverse as artificial intelligence, video games, robotics, digital environments and online risk prevention, all in a safe and accessible learning environment. The proposal, says Vega, “responds to the growing need to create a digital ecosystem in the Canary Islands, promoting not only the use of technology, but also the creation of a space where it is used in an ethical and responsible manner.”

With a programme aimed at young people, families and teachers alike, Tech&Teach will offer a wide range of activities, including workshops on cybersecurity, cyberbullying prevention, online scam detection and a specific focus on preventing cyber violence against women, providing young people with key tools to safely navigate the digital world. Practical activities will also be developed on artificial intelligence, 3D design and printing, virtual reality and gaming, offering an introduction to technological trends and their applications in everyday and professional life.

The event will feature the participation of experts in technology, artificial intelligence and video games, who will share their knowledge and experiences with attendees. This approach of young people to professionals in the sector will allow them to discover and explore possible professional careers, as well as interact directly with the latest technological innovations in a collaborative and accessible environment.
