Photographer Nacho González Oramas explores the beauty of the island on a unique journey to the Mesa de Acusa, capturing the essence of the landscape in the series 'De Ruta Con…'
The route that runs between Roque García and Acusa, in the heart of the Roque Nublo Rural Park, invites walkers to immerse themselves in an environment of impressive natural and heritage value. This path, registered as the S-88 in grancanariasenderos.com of the Department of the Environment of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, it makes its way through landscapes of volcanic rock, almond trees and pine trees, offering a deep connection with the environment and the aboriginal legacy of the area.
Along the five kilometres that make up this route, travellers can perceive the sounds of the island's nature. From the song of the finches and the flight of the eagles to the echo of the sheep's bells that accompany the shepherds on the summit, the journey becomes a constant dialogue with the biodiversity of the place.
The route ends at Mesa de Acusa, an Archaeological Zone declared a Site of Cultural Interest. Along this route, a variety of native flora unfolds, ranging from broom bushes to thyme and laburnum, creating a vibrant contrast with the hues of the ancient volcanic rocks.
As the day fades, the landscape transforms into a symphony of red, orange and violet colours that bathe the walls of Bentayga, a natural monument that symbolises the connection between heaven and earth in pre-Hispanic culture. As the sun descends and the clouds surround Roque Nublo, the island seems to extend an invitation to discover its mysteries and enjoy its immensity.
At the end of this path, the traveller not only reaches a physical destination, but an experience that connects the present with the memory of Gran Canaria.
