Tourists with reservations in Maspalomas protest against "the heat" on a Binter flight

Binter flight NT 4073, which was due to leave Funchal at 14pm on Monday bound for Gran Canaria, was delayed for more than five hours due to a breakdown. The situation caused outrage among passengers, some with holiday packages to the south of Gran Canaria, who were trapped inside the plane for an hour, without any ventilation. This flight usually lasts 80 minutes. Last September, Binter's legal problem with the contract for the air link between Porto Santo and Madeira ended when it won the tender for the concession of the line. The decision put an end to a long legal dispute that had brought instability for years.

A passenger named Ruben Gomes said that when they arrived on board they were given a fan, but only after an hour, and several complaints about the heat, the doors of the plane were opened. At that time, and according to the passenger's report, they were informed that "the plane had a malfunction in the engine and software" and that departure would be postponed until 19.00:XNUMX p.m.

However, according to information on the Portuguese Aena website, the flight was rescheduled for 21pm and in theory landed shortly after 23pm. Ruben Gomes also pointed out the "lack of support" from the company. "They only told us to resolve everything on the Binter website, and people also missed other connections, for which no one took responsibility for this lack of professionalism (...)", said the passenger.
