Event that seeks to recognize those who promote continuous improvement in the field of health
On November 5, 2024, Hospitales Universitarios San Roque was recognized as the 'Best Managed Private Hospital' during the New Medical Economics Awards ceremony, held at the Auditorium of the Hospital Universitario Clínico San Carlos in Madrid. This award highlights excellence in private hospital management and is given to institutions that have made a significant contribution to the development of Biomedicine and Health Sciences in Spain, with a focus on research, innovation and patient experience.
The awards ceremony brought together leading professionals from the healthcare sector, authorities and representatives of the Administration, in a celebration that seeks to recognise the work of those who promote continuous improvement in the field of health. During the event, Dr. Mario Rodríguez, President of San Roque University Hospitals, received the award from José María Martínez García, President of New Medical Economics.The Presidency and General Management of San Roque University Hospitals express their pride and satisfaction in sharing this recognition with other outstanding professionals and entities, valuing this award as an impetus to continue offering excellent hospital management at the service of the community.
In addition to San Roque University Hospitals, other entities such as Vithas, Quirón Salud and Ribera Salud and Pfizer were also awarded in different categories, thus recognizing the work and trajectory of various institutions that, day after day, contribute to improving the quality of life of patients in Spain.
Winners of this edition
This year's winners of the New Medical Economics Awards: Valdecilla Hospital and Miguel Servet, San Roque University Hospital (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria), as Best Managed Private Hospital; La Fe Hospital in Valencia, as Best CSR Policy, for 'Development of a plan for quality care and patient safety in a tertiary hospital and its health department', and Virgen del Rocío University Hospital (Seville) and the Ribera Salud Group, as Best Expansion Project.
On the other hand, Medtronic and Dexcom have been awarded the Best Digital Health Project 2024 award; Grupo Quirón Salud and the San Pedro Hospital Complex in La Rioja have been awarded the Best Healthcare Transformation Initiative award; the Cruces University Hospital (Vizcaya) and the San Carlos Clinical Hospital (Madrid) have been awarded the Best Practices in Patient Experience award; and Pfizer and Vithas have been awarded for their Commitment to One Health Policies.
The Talent and Entrepreneurship Promotion Award went to Talento and AMA Seguros, the Most Innovative Autonomous Community Award to the Valencian Community, the Best Charitable Entity with Health Purposes to the Gasol Foundation, and the Female Leadership in Management, Quality and Sustainability Award to Marta Villanueva, Elena Mantilla, Blanca Fernández-Lasquetty and Carolina Sánchez.
On the other hand, AstraZeneca and FENIN have received the Award for the Best Socio-Health Outreach Campaign, the Hermanas Hospitalarias and Zink Medical the Award for the Promotion of Research and Innovation and Antonio Burgueño Jerez, director of the Venturi project, the Award for the Best Article published in New Medical Economics in 2024, for 'We do not have to solve the surgical waiting list, but rather the adjustment of entries and exits from it'.
Finally, the Award for Best Health Personality of the Year went to Luis Ruiz Molina, the Award for Best Professional Career went to Ignasi Biosca, Federico Plaza and Ricardo Ogawa, and the NME 2024 Honorary Award went to the Fire Department of the Valencia City Council.
