The Department of Tourism, Festivities and Events of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council has presented today, Wednesday, October 06, during the celebration of the World Travel Market tourism fair in London, the official poster for the Maspalomas International Carnival 2025. The presentation was made by the mayor of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana town hall, Marco Aurelio Pérez and the councilor for Turiso, Yilenia Vega; who were accompanied by two of the most representative figures of the Maspalomas Carnival: the Queen of the Maspalomas International Carnival 2024, Dayanara Hernández, and the Drag Queen, Drag Tamito, Aythami Santana.

The Maspalomas International Carnival 20025, which will be held from March 18 to 30, 2025, will have the theme 'Love in Mexican Style', so the creator of the poster, the Gran Canarian artist Óscar Quintana, under the title The same Mexican destiny, has reflected the cultural fusion of Mexico and the Canary Islands, with typical elements from both regions. The design features three skeleton characters in traditional Mexican clothing, which is a clear tribute to the Day of the Dead festival, on a colorful background with representative icons of Maspalomas, such as the dunes and the lighthouse, emblematic symbols of the municipality.

The Councillor for Tourism highlighted that after revealing to the designer that he had won the competition, “Óscar was very proud and grateful for having been selected to represent this renowned carnival.” In the words of Quintana, the poster not only seeks to capture the festive spirit, but also the deep respect for the cultures it celebrates. For its design he was inspired by listening to Mexican music, especially 'Un millón de primaveras' by Vicente Fernández, while designing the work. “The result is a piece that invites everyone to join in the great Carnival party, which this year promises to be full of love and colour in the Mexican style, where many nationalities will unite 'under the same destination, Maspalomas,” joked Vega, alluding to the name of the poster.

An unprecedented participatory process

The selection of the poster has been a milestone in the history of the Carnival, with a popular voting process that attracted international attention. More than 3,700 votes from 46 different countries were registered on the City Council's platform, allowing residents and tourists to actively participate in this emblematic celebration.
