The leading tour operator in southern Gran Canaria, TUI, was explaining the group's financial sustainability agenda in Maspalomas when a group of activists disrupted the World Travel Market trade fair in London against Loro Parque, the same company that wants to develop Siam Park in Playa del Inglés. Two protesters from Peta (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) took to the stage during the sustainability debate in which the operator's strategy director and executive director of holiday experiences, Peter Krueger, was taking part. Peta said on Wednesday that TUI's decision to continue selling and promoting parks such as SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida, and Loro Parque in Tenerife, is "an embarrassment to the entire travel industry". Jet2Holidays has stopped all types of products related to animal exhibitions.
