The IES Amurga Pavilion in San Fernando de Maspalomas hosted the first day of the Tech&Teach event, organized by the Department of Celebrations and Events of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council, in collaboration with the Government of the Canary Islands within the Science and Innovation Weeks 2024. The event brought together nearly 300 high school students from local institutes, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Telde, who enjoyed technological workshops, creative activities and inspiring talks on the latest trends in the digital world and online prevention.

Among the highlights, the presentations by experts such as Marina Amores, journalist and digital activist; Rubén Torrero Marijnissen, specialist in artificial intelligence; and Natalia Santana Cruz, from the Island Service for the Prevention and Attention to Cyber-Violence Against Women, captured the attention of the public. The activities included everything from the development of video games and virtual reality to talks on the prevention of cyberbullying, promoting an integrative and transformative vision of technology as a driver of change.

The inauguration was attended by Javier Franco Hormiga, director of the Canary Islands Agency for Research, Innovation and Information Society, who highlighted the impact of these events as an educational tool. For her part, Councillor Yilenia Vega stressed that the event is not only aimed at young people, but also at adults, with the aim of promoting inclusive and sustainable technological training. The activities will continue this Saturday, November 9, with free admission for all ages.
