The Gran Canaria Island Council, through the Institute for Integrated World Heritage Management, organizes guided walks such as the one to Roque Bentayga , a place where history and nature merge. On one of these walks, Gran Canarian composer Laura Vega explored this emblematic trail, inspired by the landscape and its connection to music. The 2,5-kilometer (round trip) route takes approximately 1,5 hours and is of moderate difficulty , starting from the Bentayga Interpretation Center and leading to this majestic archaeological site. “It’s like walking along a natural musical staff full of history ,” says Vega, who created the chamber piece 'Caelum in terra. Music for Eternity ,' dedicated to the Risco Caído Cultural Landscape and the Sacred Mountains of Gran Canaria.

In addition to the spiritual connection with the place, Vega highlighted how the landscapes of Gran Canaria have inspired other works of hers, such as 'Lost Paradises' , which originated at the Ventana del Nublo. At the end of her hike, Vega described the experience as an enriching legacy: “You don't return the same person. This place fills you with history and connects you with what is essential . ”
