Alsa, the owner of National Express (Mobico) in the United Kingdom and which will compete in the south of Gran Canaria from 2027 for the lines managed by Salcai alone, increased its income by 23% between June and September compared to the same period of the previous year, driven by the incorporation of Grupo 1844, which operates under the CanaryBus brand in the south of Gran Canaria for business groups such as TUI. Since last March, Grupo 1844 has incorporated more than 900 coaches that transport more than 14 million passengers each year on five islands of the archipelago.
Its British parent company, Mobico, formerly National Express, controlled by the Asturian family group Cosmen, published an update to the market on Wednesday in which it provided some details of the company's performance in the third quarter of the year. Revenue also grew thanks to the acquisition, last March, of Grupo 1844 through more than 900 coaches that transport more than 14 million passengers each year on five islands of the archipelago.
In the intercity bus business, turnover grew by 13%, with a 9% increase in the number of passengers, also driven by transport discounts, while in urban buses revenues grew by 8% and the number of passengers by 7%. In the international group as a whole (Mobico), revenues grew less than in Alsa, by 12%, although the company is confident of meeting its forecasts of achieving an operating profit of between 222 and 246 million euros for the year as a whole.
